Networks and Partnerships
The internationalisation project is one of CEsA’s priorities, establishing important networks and partnerships in the subject of Development Studies.
Academic Partnerships
CEComp – Centro de Estudos Comparatistas
CEComp – Centre for Comparative Studies is a research unit of the Faculty of Arts (FLUL) at the University of Lisbon. Founded in 1998, CEComp’s research promotes reflection on the epistemological challenges posed by Comparatism and, therefore, is located at the intersection of various disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences, contributing to the emergence of new interdisciplinary fields.
CEComp and CEsA signed a partnership protocol in July 2023 to carry out activities, projects, and initiatives, especially in the context of African Literary and Cultural Studies. The partnership aims to collaborate in the fields of research and the development of studies related to relevant themes and the implementation of joint initiatives such as conferences, courses, and seminars.
EADI – European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes
EADI, the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes, is the leading European network in the field of Development Studies.
With more than 100 institutional members in over 25 countries, it organises activities and provides platforms for international networking and exchanges with a strong interdisciplinary focus. It brings together a broad set of research centres on Development and International Cooperation, think tanks, national bodies and researchers from across Europe. The main objective of the network is to facilitate dialogue between the various actors involved in this area of research, identify needs and share ideas and information.
CEsA is a member of this network since 1992 and in April 2023 has joined the ranks of Premium Members. The official languages of the EADI are English and French. EADI is funded through membership fees from the members, as well as by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
EADI’s flagship events are the General Conferences every three years that bring together the wider Development Research community around a specific theme. In the year 2023, CEsA and ISEG hosted the “EADI CEsA Lisbon Conference 2023: Towards New Rhythms of Development” from 10 to 13 July in conjunction with EADI.
