About the speaker
Isabel do Carmo is an endocrinologist, professor, and researcher, whose career has been marked by civic, political, and academic activism. She was one of the leading figures in the opposition to the Estado Novo regime, having participated in the student and political movements that preceded the Carnation Revolution.
After April 25, she maintained a prominent presence in the public sphere, contributing to the debate on social issues, inequalities, and human rights. Throughout her career, she has worked in the fields of health, nutrition, and society, combining scientific knowledge with critical reflection on contemporary social phenomena.
This session offers an interdisciplinary approach to racism, analyzing it as a historical, social, and political phenomenon.
