Joana Pereira Leite/CEsA is a guest speaker at the launch of the book Basic Income for Disasters and Climate Change in Africa: Agrarian Risk Reduction and Adaptation

The economist and historian, retired professor from ISEG-ULisboa and researcher at CEsA, Professor Joana Pereira Leite, participated as a guest speaker at the launch of the book Basic Income for Disasters and Climate Change in Africa: Agrarian Risk Reduction and Adaptation, authored by the African Studies researcher Sara Bernardo (CEI-Iscte).

The discussion of the book’s central themes took place on 11 December 2024 at Iscte (Building 4, Room B3.25) and included contributions from Ulrich Schiefer (Iscte) with moderation by Cláudia Leal (Television of Mozambique and RTP Africa).

The book explores innovative solutions for reducing agrarian risks and adapting to climate change in the African context, with an emphasis on the proposal of a basic income as a tool to address disasters and climate challenges.
