Projeto europeu #DemocracyinAction

O Mapa Interativo apresentado nesta página constitui um dos resultados do projeto europeu #DemocracyInAction – Grassroots Culture, Arts and Cultural Spaces for Political Participation and Expression Online and Offline in a Resilient Europe, financiado pelo programa Horizon Europe (Projeto n.º 101178843).

O projeto reúne um consórcio internacional de universidades, centros de investigação e organizações da sociedade civil para estudar o papel das artes, da cultura e dos espaços culturais de base na promoção da participação cívica e do fortalecimento da democracia, tanto em contextos presenciais como digitais. A investigação centra-se em quatro áreas de transformação social: culturas noturnas enquanto espaços de participação (nightivism), mobilização pelos direitos das mulheres, participação cívica racial e étnica através da expressão cultural e ativismo juvenil e educação para a cidadania.

Através de metodologias criativas, participativas e interdisciplinares, o projeto desenvolve estudos de caso em diferentes regiões do mundo e explora também o potencial dos ambientes digitais e imersivos para promover uma participação política mais inclusiva, contribuindo para a formulação de recomendações para políticas públicas e para o fortalecimento da democracia a nível local, nacional e europeu.

O CEsA/ISEG Research – ISEG, Universidade de Lisboa integra este consócio através da participação da Prof.ª Iolanda Évora e da Jessica Falconi, responsáveis pelo trabalho desenvolvido na área da participação cívica racial e étnica através da expressão cultural.

No âmbito do Work Pachage 5 – Race, Ethnicity and Civic Participation, foi desenvolvido o mapa interativo abaixo apresentado.

Este mapa digital, produzido como um dos outputs do Work Package 5 – Race, Ethnicity and Civic Participation do projeto #DemocracyInAction, apresenta uma visão abrangente de organizações de base dirigidas às comunidades africanas e afrodescendentes, com foco nas suas  iniciativas culturais que promovem a participação cívica na Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. Desenvolvido através de um processo colaborativo e recorrendo a uma metodologia “bola de neve”, o mapa reúne informação sobre mais de cinquenta associações, coletivos e grupos comunitários, incluindo detalhes sobre as suas atividades e localizações geográficas. Os critérios e categorias utilizados para organizar as entidades foram definidos em colaboração com as parceiras locais, garantindo uma representação rigorosa da diversidade e do alcance das ações destas entidades. Para além destas organizações, o mapa inclui ainda iniciativas e plataformas digitais que contribuem para a participação cultural, constituindo uma ferramenta dinâmica de exploração, visibilidade e criação de redes de contatos.

(EN) The interactive map presented on this page is one of the outcomes of the European project #DemocracyInAction – Grassroots Culture, Arts, and Cultural Spaces for Political Participation and Expression Online and Offline in a Resilient Europe, funded by the Horizon Europe program (Project No. 101178843).

The project brings together an international consortium of universities, research centers, and civil society organizations to study the role of the arts, culture, and grassroots cultural spaces in promoting civic participation and strengthening democracy, in both in-person and digital contexts. The research focuses on four areas of social transformation: nightlife as spaces for participation (nightivism), mobilization for women’s rights, racial and ethnic civic participation through cultural expression, and youth activism and citizenship education.

Though creative, participatory, and interdisciplinary methodologies, the project develops case studies in different regions of the world and also explores the potential of digital and immersive environments to promote more inclusive political participation, contributing to the formulation of recommendations for public policies and the strengthening of democracy at the local, national, an European levels.

CEsA/ISEG Research—ISEG, University of Lisbon—is part of this consortium through the participation of Prof. Iolanda Évora and Jessica Falconi, who are leading the research on racial and ethnic civic participation through cultural expression.

As part Work Package 5 – Race, Ethnicity, and Civic Participation – the interactive map shown below was developed.

This digital map, produced as one of the outputs of Work Package 5 – Race, Ethnicity and Civic Participation of the #DemocracyInAction project, offers a comprehensive overview of grassroots organizations addressed to African and Afro-descendant communities, focusing on their cultural initiatives that foster civic participation in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Developed through a collaborative process and using a snowball methodology, the map brings together information on more than fifty associations, collectives, and community groups, including details on their activities and geographic locations. The criteria and categories used to organize the entities were defined in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring an accurate representation of the diversity and scope of their work. In addition to these organizations, the map also includes digital initiatives and platforms that contribute to cultural participation, providing a dynamic tool for exploration, visibility, and networking.
