Corsino FortesCorsino António Fortes is a Capeverdian poet and politician. He was born in Mindelo, São Vicente Island on 14th of February 1933. He holds a law degree by University of Lisbon, and he was appointed a government member several times and performed many others political duties, such as being the Capeverdian ambassador in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Norway and Iceland. At the same time Fortes maintained his activity in the world of literature and is perceived as one of the most important poets in Cape Verde. He is one of the founders of the Association of Writers of Cape Verde. Arménio VieiraArménio Vieira was born on 24th of January 1941 in the city of Praia, Cape Verde. Active writer since the 60's he collaborated with many journals, among which Mákua, Alerta, Boletim de Cabo Verde, Imbondeiro, Vértice, Raízes, Ponto & Virgula and his poems were included in various anthologies. Among his diverse professional duties he was editor of the journal Voz di Povo. Vieira dedicates himself to poetry and prose. In 2009 he won Camões Prize. Helena Buescu, who was the head of the jury claimed that Arménio Vieira “produced a work that deserves to enter into a certain canon of Lusophone literatures". Ondjaki is a pen name of Ndalu de Almeida, born in 1977 in Luanda. The memories from his childhood spent in the Angolan capital inspired him to write the novel Bom Dia, Camaradas (Good Morning, Comrades) (2001) and a collection of short stories Os da Minha Rua (The Ones From My Street) (2007). After completing secondary education in a public school in Luanda, he moved to Portugal where he was awarded a degree in Sociology at ISCTE in Lisbon in 2002. He published his first book, a collection of poetry Actu Sanguíneu (2000) after winning the second prize in the António Jacinto literary competition.
