Guenny PiresGuenny Pires is a Capeverdian filmmaker born on Fogo Island. He holds a Master's degree in Cinema and Visual Arts by Lusofona University in Porto. He lives in the United States where he develops his cinematic work tending to show the Creole world through his documentaries. His films won prices in many film festivals. He is one of the co-founders of the production company Txan Film Productions & Visual Arts, Inc. which objective is to produce materials related to communities and cultures of African Diaspora, especially these from the Atlantic Islands: Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, the Caribbean. His work contains of the following documentaries:
João RibeiroJoão Ribeiro is a Mozambican director and producer. His parents were from Cape Verde and he was born in the province of Zambézia (Mozambique). In Quelimane (Zambézia, Mozambique), he was the delegate of National Institute of Cinema, managing 5 cinemas and, as a hobby, he started working with photography and video. In 1987, he moved to Maputo where he started working as the Head of Archives of the National Institute of Cinema and later on as the Production Coordinator. He graduated in Movie and Television production at the Superior School of Cinema and Television (San António de los Baños, Cuba). Zézé GamboaZézé Gamboa is an Angolan filmmaker, born in Luanda in 1955. For many years, he worked as a producer and director for the Angolan television. In 1984, he got a degree in Sound Engeneering by Nécipone, in Paris, and in 1991 he directed his first documentary Mopiopio, Sopro de Angola (Mopiopio, Breath of Angola), which won several prizes at the festival FESPACO and at the Milan African Film Festival. Till the date, he directed documentaries Dissidência (Dissidence, 1998), Desassossego de Pessoa (Pessoa's Disquiet, 1999), Burned by Blue (1999) and three fiction films: the short film Bom Dia, África (Good Morning, Africa, 2009) and two feature films: O Herói (The Hero, 2004) e O Grande Kilapy (The Great Kilapy, 2012). O Herói won the World Cinema Juri Prize at the 2005 Sundance Festival, in the USA.
