Sol de Carvalho is a Mozambican director and journalist, born in 1953. He grew up in Inhambane province and studied journalism in Portugal in the early 70´s. After the 25th of April, he returned to Mozambique where he joined the liberation movement FRELIMO. At the time, he was the head of the National Service of Radio Mozambique and later on joined Mia Couto and Albino Magaia in the magazine Tempo. He was one of the founders of the project Kuxakanema and, in 1984, worked as a production assistant in the first Mozambican film in co-production between Mozambique and Yugoslavia. From 1986 onwards, he works exclusively with cinema. Isabel Noronha is one of the first female cinema directors in Mozambique. She was born in Maputo in 1964. In 1984, she joined the National Institute of Cinema. She is a founding member of the Video Independent Company (Coopimagem) and of Mozambican Association of Filmmakers. She has a degree in Clinical Psychology (ISPU, Mozambique) and a Master's Degree in Mental Health and Social Clinic (University of Leon, Spain).
