Arménio Vieira was born on 24th of January 1941 in the city of Praia, Cape Verde. Active writer since the 60's he collaborated with many journals, among which Mákua, Alerta, Boletim de Cabo Verde, Imbondeiro, Vértice, Raízes, Ponto & Virgula and his poems were included in various anthologies. Among his diverse professional duties he was editor of the journal Voz di Povo. Vieira dedicates himself to poetry and prose. In 2009 he won Camões Prize. Corsino António Fortes is a Capeverdian poet and politician. He was born in Mindelo, São Vicente Island on 14th of February 1933. He holds a law degree by University of Lisbon, and he was appointed a government member several times and performed many others political duties, such as being the Capeverdian ambassador in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Norway and Iceland. At the same time Fortes maintained his activity in the world of literature and is perceived as one of the most important poets in Cape Verde. Danny Spínola was born in Ribeira de Barca, Island of Santiago. He is Capeverdian writer, poet and painter. He got his degree in Portuguese Language and Culture by the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon and during many years worked as a professor of Portuguese language and literature in high-schools on Santiago, as well as at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in the University of Havana and in Guinea-Bissau, where he taught volunteers of Peace Corps.
