Danny Spínola was born in Ribeira de Barca, Island of Santiago. He is Capeverdian writer, poet and painter. He got his degree in Portuguese Language and Culture by the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon and during many years worked as a professor of Portuguese language and literature in high-schools on Santiago, as well as at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in the University of Havana and in Guinea-Bissau, where he taught volunteers of Peace Corps. He is a founding member of Movimento Pró-Cultura and Association of Writers of Cape Verde and holds the position of the President of Capeverdian Society of Authors (SOCA). During his career he collaborated with many literary and culture magazines. His work contains of prose, poetry and essays. He writes in Portuguese and Creole. He published the following books: Lágrimas de Bronze (Tears of Bronze 1991, fiction), Na Kantar di Sol (1991, poetry), Adon y Éva (1999, poetry), Infinito Delírio (Endless Delirium, 2002, poetry), Evocações (Evocations, 2004, essays), Vagens de Sol (Pods of Sun, 2005, poetry), Lagoa Gémia (Twin Bay, 2006, short stories), Ámen Na Nha Xintidu (2006, poetry) and Os Avatares das Ilhas ( The Avatars Of the Islands, 2008, fiction).
