Arménio Vieira was born on 24^th of January 1941 in the city of Praia, Cape Verde. Active writer since the 60's he collaborated with many journals, among which Mákua, Alerta, Boletim de Cabo Verde, Imbondeiro, Vértice, Raízes, Ponto & Virgula and his poems were included in various anthologies. Among his diverse professional duties he was editor of the journal Voz di Povo. Vieira dedicates himself to poetry and prose. In 2009 he won Camões Prize. Helena Buescu, who was the head of the jury claimed that Arménio Vieira “produced a work that deserves to enter into a certain canon of Lusophone literatures". He published Poemas (Poems, 1981), O Eleito do Sol (Chosen by the Sun, 1990), No Inferno (In Hell, 1999), MITOgrafias (MYTHOgraphies, 2006), O Brumário (Brumaire, 2013), Derivações do Brumário (Derivations od Brumaire, 2013) e Sequelas do Brumário (Sequels of Brumaire, 2014).
