Kalu Mendes (1969) is a singer, director, cameraman and producer from São Tomé. He studied production and film direction (Portugal) and virtual assembly (France). He directed short films for many institutions, among which the French Embassy in São Tomé and Santa Casa da Misericórdia. With his work, he pretends to educate the society. Among his films one can find such titles as Agua boa, vida saudável (Good Water, Healthy Life, 2011, direction) e O avesso da vida (The Other Side of Life, 2012, production).
Januário Afonso is a film director from São Tomé. In the 90's, he participated in foreign films production in São Tomé and in 2002 he directed his first film, about AIDS. In 2009, he directed Vosso Amor, o Meu Sorriso (Your Love, My Smile) about domestic violence and its influence on children and, in 2012, O Avesso de Vida (The Other Side of Life) about the abandonment of the elders. In both his documentary and fictional work, one can notice strong concern about social issues. In 2006, he participated in CinePort Festival in Portugal and, in 2007, in AfricaDoc.

Albertino Bragança, writer and politician from São Tomé, was born in 1944. He got his degree in Electrotechnical Engineering at Coimbra University. In 1975 he moved back to his home country and since then carried various public duties. He was Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is as well one of the founding members of the National Union of Writers and Artists of São Tome and Príncipe. His literary work contains of three books: Rosa de Riboque e Outros Contos (Rose from Riboque and Other Stories, 1985), Um Clarão Sobre a Baía (A Flash Over the Bay, 2004) and Aurélia de Vento (Aurélia Made of Wind, 2011).
