Cristina Barbosa, a writer and teacher from São Tomé and Príncipe, was born on Príncipe Island on 24^th of March 1943. She studied in the Unites States of America and has a degree in English and Arts and Science. Professionally, she was a teacher of English, Portuguese and History and carried many public duties. She was a translator and interpreter for the Government of São Tomé and UNICEF and secretary of the President of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. In 1995 she founded the Association of Disabled of São Tomé. She is the author of Ye Rêguê (Rise the Príncipe Island, 2012).
