Guenny Pires is a Capeverdian filmmaker born on Fogo Island. He holds a Master's degree in Cinema and Visual Arts by Lusofona University in Porto. He lives in the United States where he develops his cinematic work tending to show the Creole world through his documentaries. His films won prices in many film festivals. He is one of the co-founders of the production company Txan Film Productions & Visual Arts, Inc. which objective is to produce materials related to communities and cultures of African Diaspora, especially these from the Atlantic Islands: Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, the Caribbean.
