Licínio Azevedo, born in Porto Alegre (Brazil), in 1951, is a cinema producer and director based in Mozambique since 1975. He is a notable filmmaker in the Mozambican cinema scene and one of the founding members of the production company Ebano Multimedia. He is the producer and director of several worldwide award winning fiction and documentary films. He is the author of the following films: A Colheita Do Diabo (The Devil´s Harvest, 1988), Marracuene (1990), Adeus RDA (Farewell DDR 1992), A Árvore dos Antepassados (The Tree of the Ancestors, 1994), A Guerra da Água (The War of the Water, 1996), Tchuma Tchato (1997), Massassane (1998), A Última Prostituta (The Last Prostitute, 1999), Histórias Comunitárias (Community Stories, 2000) A Ponte (The Bridge, 2001), Eclipse (Eclipse, 2002), Desobediência (Disobedience, 2002), Mãos de Barro (Hands of Clay, 2003), Acampamento de Desminagem (Demining Camp, 2005), O Grande Bazar (The Great Bazaar, 2006), Hóspedes da Noite (Night Lodgers, 2007), A Ilha dos Espíritos (The Island of the Spirits, 2010) and Virgem Margarida (Virgin Margarida, 2013).
