Recording of the DS Seminar “Slow Down or Perish: The Economics of Degrowth”, by Timothée Parrique, available on CEsA’s YouTube Channel

The presentation ‘Slow Down or Perish: The Economics of Degrowth’, delivered by French economist Timothée Parrique (Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne, Switzerland), was held on 23 June 2025 as part of the Development Studies Seminars. The session featured a panel of discussants composed of Professors Susana Peralta (Nova-SBE), Irina Castro (CES, Universidade de Coimbra), and Alexandre Abreu (CEsA and ISEG).

The event also marked the launch of the Portuguese edition of Parrique’s book, titled ‘Abrandar ou Morrer. A economia do decrescimento’. The full recording of the session is now available on CEsA’s YouTube channel.

This seminar was part of the Development Studies Seminars, an initiative that, since 1991, has been promoting research in the study areas of the Master’s in Development and International Cooperation (MDCI) at ISEG and the PhD Programme in Development Studies (PDED) at the University of Lisbon.
